I love Apparatus inc. work, especially the Sims Snowboard dsigns. The website is very illustrative and colourful (Both of my favourite things!!). It is a modern website, and i'm sure you will all appreciate that it is a well designed, impresive and visually attractive page.

I Love Dust refer to themselves as a design boutique, situated on the south coast of England. I absolutely love their website, it is quite girley and pretty, yet very modern and trendy.

BJL is Britons largest independent advertising agency outside of London and their website is quite impresive. It is a very interactive site, where you can choose what 'room' you want to have a look in. This site really does do the company justice. Take a look!

The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time favourite films. Its one of those films that really touches you, that actually makes you think, and then always remains your head, ready to pop up when discussing influential, favourite films. At points this film is awfull, when prisioners are being violently beaten by the guards or being raped by fellow inmates. But at times its full of hope, determination and positivity. Andy Dufresne is the main character, he had been wrongly sentenced to two life sentences in one of Americas toughest prisons and on his first night he witnesses another new arrival being beaten to death by the guards. Dufresne is befriended by fellow inmate Red, who is the man to go to if you wnat anything brought into the prison. Dufresne requested a small rock hammer to be brought in. The film follows the years of Dufresne growing in prison, becoming popular with the guards , the inmates and working hard in the prison library. One morning Dufresne's room was found empty, after an investigation, a tunnel was found behind a poster. This tunnel Dufresne had made over the years with his small rock hammer. So hope and determination set Andy Dufresne free, it wasn't easy, it will haev been a lot of hard work but in the end he won.

Hotel LaChapelle

Hotel LaChapelle is a big book, filled with thick, shiney pages. It is an enjoyable experience to turn the pages, however I'm not sure how I feel about David LaChapelle's work. Some of his work in his book Hotel LaChapelle I absolutly love, I like the vidid colours, the over the top and highly dramatised art direction and the complete random situations that are photgraphed. But what I don't think I like is the nakedness, I feel this pictures with girls with no tops on, ruins the picture. I am sure that many people will diagree with this opinion, as it probably makes LaCapelle's work totally unique. But I think that it is just a little much adn his work would be just as good, if not better with out the nakedness!

Air Ambulance Ambient Media

Ambient poster campaign for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Placed in remote locations,
the posters highlighted the need for the service whist asking the public for donations. I thought there was something clever about this campaign. It did what was intended and showed the seriousness of being injured whilst out in remote locations.

Olympic Stadium

When i first saw this picture of the birds eye view of the Beijing Olympic Stadium I honestly thought it was a joke. I was wondering if any one else thinks that this building has any resembelence to a womens genitals?!?! Im worried that it is just me who sees this and therfore I have a problem!

Grafik

I love Grafik magazine. It is quite obvious why, the design is perfect, it is clean and neat, crisp and colourful. The name is simple and refelects perfectly its contents. the use of thick matt pages give the magazine a feel of quality. It is an enjoyable experience reading through a Grafik magazine, like unwrapping a present.

Herons

Herons is a play writen by Simon Stephens. It tells the story of a 13 year old boy from an East London estate called Billy, whos dad is a no hoper and gives the surrounding teenagers a reason to bully him. The story is so moving because it is so real. In the small, intimate theatre at The Royal Court there were times i forgot i was sat amongst and audience and actors and actually believed i was witnessing real east London gang life. Herons is filled with swearing and unpleasant language, but Stephens gets away with it, because with out it, it wouldn't have been realistic. I sat with people of all ages, ranging from me at the tender young age 15 and my grandma at 85, yet we all loved the play. We could all appreciate the realism portrayed. towards the end of the play there is a gang rape scene, where a young boy is raped using a beer bottle, it was horrific and moving. I know i will remember the experience of watching Herons for a long time. It provoked thought, debate and deep conversation.
